Katherine received her B.A. in Art from San Francisco State University, and began exhibiting in the late 1990's. She has shown in the United States and abroad, including Sepia International Gallery in New York City; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Artists Gallery; the Oakland Museum of California and Oakland Art Gallery; the San Jose Museum of Contemporary Art and San Jose Textile Museum; The Berkeley Art Center and Berkeley's Kala Art Institute; the Photographic Center Northwest, Seattle; the Michael Hoppen Gallery, London, England; and the Biblioteca National, Havana, Cuba.

Among her public collectors are Adobe Systems; the Alameda County Public Art Collection; Mumm, Napa Valley; San Francisco State University; the San Francisco Zen Center; Walter Hood Design, Oakland; and the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University, New Jersey.

In 2005, Katherine had her second solo exhibition at Sepia International Gallery in New York City, featuring the abandoned mental hospitals on Long Island, New York, and completed a commission to photograph Oakland's public art collection for an upcoming guidebook.

In 2006, Katherine produced a limited edition boxset at Trillium Press in anticipation of the publication of her first book. She is previewing new Tapestries at the San Jose Museum of Textiles and new large scale pigmented inkjet prints from Louisiana and Mississippi at Oakland's Swarm Gallery at Jack London Square, both through September.
